Details
A wireless loco DCC/WCC sound decoder is a small circuit that is installed into a train to control movement, lights, sound, and other functions using DCC (Digital Command Control), WCC (Wireless Command Control; check more info in our Documentation), or just a web browser. This decoder can also be used with layout elements like turnouts and even installed inside them. The module can be used with DC, AC, or battery power. Read more about connections, how to upload new logic, sounds, and create layout automation in our Knowledge Base. This decoder is based on firmware with available source code, allowing anyone to implement their own logic using Arduino. Don’t know Arduino? No problem—the firmware that comes with the decoder has sophisticated features that you will not find in other proprietary decoders available on the market.
Don't forget to check that your train has enough space to fit this module.

What You Can Control/Create with the Loco.Engineering Train Decoder
- Control trains and other movable elements on a layout. If you want to control a battery-powered vehicle, check our board for remote control cars and vehicles.
- Control battery-powered trains, such as LEGO®. An additional battery management board is required.
- Control up to 3 servo motors without additional boards.
- Control turnouts and other elements with bi-directional solenoids (usually, such elements have just 2 wires).
- Connect NFC readers to detect when a particular train reaches a location.
- Connect sensors over I2C, SPI, or UART.
- Develop your own remote controllers/boards to control the layout.
- Develop your own firmware and apps.
